The cottage
Welcome to the Railway Cottage at Montazels! Dating back to the 19th century, this charming cottage lies in an idyllic location, offering a stunning outlook over the famous village of Rennes-le-Château. The cottage is located on a quiet back road between Couiza and Espéraza in the beautiful Aude Valley. Our aim is to provide you with a home from home in a get-away-from-it-all location with lots of sun!
Inside, the cottage offers Wi-Fi broadband, a fully equipped kitchen/diner, 1 double bedroom (with king-size bed), 1 twin room, a large, bright bathroom with bath and shower, and a spacious, sunny lounge with a wood burner, sofa-bed, TV/DVD player, CD and vintage record player, Bluetooth speaker and patio doors leading out to a large, secluded terrace with Rattan dining furniture, ideal for al fresco dining. A further shady terrace is equipped with a BBQ.
The large 1/2 acre garden, which contains a beautiful fig tree and its own original well, enjoys the sun all day, and yet offers plenty of natural shade if desired. The large private pool (4.10mx8.10mx1.50m) is surrounded by a wooden terrace in exotic wood and has sunbeds and parasols. From the garden and the pool there are stunning views up to Rennes-le-Château and over open countryside. It really is a perfect haven to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and climate that this area has to offer.

By air
The nearest airport to the Railway Cottage is Carcassonne (35 minutes drive). You can fly cheaply from the UK to Carcassonne airport from Manchester, East Midlands, Edinburgh and London Stansted with Ryanair. From Ireland, you can fly from Dublin and Cork. Alternative airports are Perpignan (1h20), Toulouse (1h30), Béziers (1h40), Montpellier (2h) and Girona (2h30). You can fly to Perpignan from London Stansted and Birmingham (Ryanair). You can fly to Toulouse from Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted. You can fly to Béziers from Bristol, Luton, Stansted, Manchester and Edinburgh (Ryanair). By train / bus
The nearest mainline station to Montazels is Carcassonne. There is a regular bus service from Carcassonne station to the local train station at Couiza-Montazels. The journey time is around 50 minutes and costs a token €1!
By car
The cottage is located in the village of Montazels, between Limoux and Quillan. Montazels has several parts to it, and the cottage is situated in the lower part of the village between Couiza and Espéraza, just off the D12.

Le cottage peut accueillir confortablement quatre personnes et dispose d'une cuisine / salle-à-manger entièrement équipée, d'une chambre avec un grand lit (de 160 cm), d'une autre chambre avec deux lits simples, d'une salle de bains avec baignoire et douche ainsi que d'un salon double ensoleillé avec un canapé-lit, une cheminée à insert, une TV avec lecteur DVD et réception satellite, une hifi Bluetooth, le Wifi ; les porte-fenêtres donnent sur une terrasse pour les repas à l'extérieur, à l'ombre d'un pergola, la grande terrasse possède un barbecue facile d'utilisation.
Le vaste jardin privatif permet de profiter du soleil toute la journée ou de se reposer à l'ombre si on le souhaite. La grande piscine privée (4,10mx8,10mx1,50m) est entourée d'une terrasse en bois exotique avec des transats et des parasols. Du jardin et de la piscine, il y a une vue imprenable sur Rennes-le-Château et la campagne environnante. Comment s'y rendre
En avion, l'aéroport de Carcassonne est à seulement 35 minutes en voiture. En train, de la gare de Carcassonne, il y a un bus SNCF qui met 50 minutes, neuf fois par jour, à seulement 1 euro et qui vous dépose à cinq minutes à pied de la maison. En voiture, depuis Carcassonne, prendre direction Limoux puis Quillan et le cottage se trouve après Couiza, un peu avant Espéraza, sur la D12.
